Alex currently works as an optical and systems researcher with illumiSonics while completing his PhD at the University of Waterloo. Since starting his PhD in 2021 he has focused on developing PARS animal imaging with the ultimate goal of building a retinal oximeter. Through his PhD work he has made foundational contributions to PARS technologies recognized through co-inventorship on core PARS patents. He holds a BASc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Waterloo lending experience in medical device development with expertise in optical and electronic hardware, embedded software, and signal and image processing.
