MLI® virtual HER2 staining performance compared against ground truth HER2 Immunohistochemical staining. MLI® virtual HER2 staining shows strong concordance and localization across the distribution of HER2 seen in clinical samples.

Case 1. HER2 strongly positive (3+)
Case 1. HER2 strongly positive (3+)
Case 2. HER2 strongly positive (3+)
Case 2. HER2 strongly positive (3+)
Case 3. HER2 negative (0)
Case 3. HER2 negative (0)

Cases 1. and 2. demonstrate ground truth immunohistochemical staining for HER2 (Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2) in invasive breast carcinoma. The tumor cells are arranged in small nests and gland-like clusters embedded within fibrous stroma, consistent with an infiltrating epithelial malignancy. The immunostain shows strong circumferential membranous staining of the neoplastic cells, highlighted by the brown chromogen along the cell membranes. This pattern reflects overexpression of the HER2 protein on the tumor cell surface. The nuclei are counterstained blue with hematoxylin, allowing visualization of cellular morphology and confirming the epithelial distribution of the stain.

Case 3. demonstrates a HER2 negative breast cancer, with nuclear counterstained blue with hematoxylin, to allow visualization of the cellular morphology.

MLI® virtual HER2 staining shows strongly concordant intensity and localization of across the distribution of HER2 seen in clinical samples.
